I’ve recently converted my closet to follow the capsule wardrobe concept, and it’s working wonders for my time management (no need to spend more than two seconds putting together an outfit in the morning), my bank account (investing in quality pieces saves you from random ASOS sprees) and my understanding of what defines my personal style (the colours and materials I’m drawn to, the silhouettes and prints that make me feel confident).
When it comes to style inspiration, Instagram is my go-to. I’ve curated my feed of people I follow to create a gorgeous gallery filled with perspectives and styles that I adore.
The Instagram ‘Save’ option is one of the key tools in building my capsule wardrobe – by saving any outfits that I’m drawn to, I can scroll through my ‘Saved’ section to find out which items prove to be a common theme and firm favourite – these are the pieces I then look to invest in.
So where do I start? Whose style do I look to for inspiration? Which accounts are my favourites?
Here are my top ten picks!
Jenny Mustard @jennymustard
Jenny is the epitome of minimalist Scandi style. Need I say more?
I love that she only wears eyebrows when she feels like it, too.
I also adore her lifestyle-focused YouTube channel – check it out here.
Samantha Maria @samanthamariaofficial
Sammi blends timeless classics with bold trend pieces each season, often complete with a YouTube video on how to style what’s in season right now over on her channel. I’ve followed her blog for years and I’ve loved seeing her personal style develop.
Lizzy Hadfield @shotfromthestreet
Lizzy is focused on the quality and sustainability of her pieces. As a fan of androgynous style, she incorporates traditionally masculine pieces and styles with current trends. Whilst her style is largely Designer and high end-focused, Lizzy has a YouTube series called Testing Basics where she proves that a high cost doesn’t always equal high quality, comparing the same item across a range of budgets and brands. I’m a huge fan.
Caroline de Maigret @carolinedemaigret
Model, producer, author of How to Be Parisian and the all-round ultimate Parisienne, Caroline’s style is effortlessly stylish yet beautifully put together. Check out her book to get an insight into how she does it!
Leia Sfez @leiasfez
Leia’s street style is minimalistic, classic and clean-cut. She definitely inspired me to invest in my MANGO blazer, which you’ll see in my upcoming capsule wardrobe-focused posts. She’s also just pretty freakin’ cool.
Alix’s Instagram is a gorgeous combination of elegance, chic and trend pieces. She styles muted tones with feminine accents to create outfits that just scream ‘every week is fashion week’.
Viktoria Dahlberg @viktoria.dahlberg
Viktoria’s feed is beautiful not only as a result of her photography and style, but thanks to the dreamy NYC backdrops too! I really like the way she subtly works colour and print into her wardrobe, which is something I struggle with!
Our Daily Edit @ourdailyedit
I popped into Our Daily Edit when I was in Brighton recently and fell in love with the store, so of course I had to follow them on Instagram for my daily dose when I’m not staying around the corner! Thankfully, you can shop ODE online, otherwise I’d be heading to Brighton almost weekly!
Lindsey Holland @ropesofholland
Lindsay’s Instagram feed is my go-to when I’m looking for some classic pieces to invest in that I can wear day-to-day; styles that give a comfortable and casual edge to delicate pieces.
If you’re a fan of all things Parisian, you’ve come to the right place. Anna’s Instagram is like an insight into the life of the ideal Parisian lifestyle, complete with corner coffee shops, croissants in hand when wandering gorgeous streets, and a street style that fits in perfectly with its ever-fashionable surroundings.
