Welcome to the first stop on my new blog series, The Bloggers’ World Tour! You can read more about it here.
Today we’re checking out Chicago, thanks to Karlie!
It is hopeless for the occasional visitor to try to keep up with Chicago. She outgrows his prophecies faster than he can make them.
Mark Twain, 1883
Population 2 million +
AKA The Windy City, the City of Big Shoulders, the Second City, and The City That Works
Fun fact! The “Historic Route 66” starts at Chicago’s Grant Park, on Adams Street, just in front of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Karlie’s Top Picks
To eat? George Street Pub, Lou Malnati’s Pizza (there is no other deep dish – period), Mindy’s Hot Chocolate, Tango Sur, Cafe Ba-ba-reeba, Sumo Sushi.
To do? Axe throwing, AirFit Lincoln Park for aerial fitness, going to Lake Michigan to hang out on the beach, any rooftop bar/restaurant.
Why Karlie loves it
Oh my goodness! Where to start?! This city is very diverse with their different neighborhoods. There are upwards to 200+ neighborhoods and 70+ different communities in this city. Just by traveling 10-15 minutes, it’s like you’re in a completely different place. It makes exploring your own city so much more fun. Also, the food here is DIVINE! We are so lucky with all of the different types of cuisine both 5 star restaurant and late night munchy offerings. Lake Michigan is enormous and driving along Lake Shore Drive makes you feel like you’re on an ocean coast. Even though it’s cold here for the majority of the year (and the winters can be BRUTAL), the summer months make it so worth it. There really is nothing quite like summertime Chicago. There’s so many activities, festivals, and events happening. Just being outside at the lake is incredible. There is a lot of bad media involving Chicago, but honestly, it is one of the best cities.
