Happy International Friendship Day!
The blogging community is absolutely wonderful. The amount of support and encouragement left right and centre is incredible, and I’m so happy that I’m a part of it. I’ve spoken to and met some amazing bloggers thanks to www.curatedbynati.com, as well as discovering the work of inspirational people across the world.
As a way of celebrating International Friendship Day 2018, I spoke to bloggers who have built some of their closest friendships thanks to the world of blogging.
Here are their stories!
I had been blogging for about a year when I decided to face my fear and start putting my name out there. It was on Instagram and I started sharing my blog posts. Eventually, I came across a few bloggers who sounded interesting and I checked out their blogs – leading me to “meet” Vicky from “Crazy Little Things” I found that her posts made me feel less alone, I couldn’t believe that there was somebody out there who could talk about mental health and how it made me feel like I was less alone, less crazy. and I felt like somebody could finally understand what I was going through.
Eventually, I started to communicate with her a little bit more by commenting on her blog posts and following her on Twitter. We have reached the point where she makes my day and I make hers. I’m truly thankful that I have come across her because she has truly made it all a little bit more fun!
Blogging has opened a world of socialization and for once in my life, there are people who are encouraging me to keep trying, people who take a moment to support my blog and has really shown me that others have and are going through the same thing. The friendship I have formed with Vicky and others in this community are cherished just as much as the relationships off of the internet. I appreciate her the other connections I have made as well.
A huge thank you to Vicky and any other blogging friends I have made along this journey. You are appreciated, your bravery is inspiring as you share your stories, and the friendship we have started forming means a lot to me. Thank you for pulling me back up when I fall, for making me laugh, and for being my blogging friend!
Me & Sarah followed each other on Twitter for years and read each other’s blogs. We realised we had a connection in real life and didn’t live too far away from each other, so we met up and that was that! Since then we’ve been for coffees, gone shopping and even to London to the Lush Showcase together with another one of our blogger friends.
My best friend Alyssa and I met in real life when she joined my sorority, Sigma Kappa. I immediately loved her style and sweet disposition, and we got super close and she became my sorority little! Blogging comes into play later in our friendship, when I moved across the country. I live in Orlando, Florida and Alyssa lives in Seattle, Washington. Alyssa started her style and lifestyle blog, ALH Blog and encouraged me to start my Disney Instagram and blog! Now blogging has brought us even closer together and it’s something that makes our long distance friendship easier to handle. From texting each other complaining about the Instagram algorithm changes, to getting excited for each other for new brand collaborations, blogging has strengthened our friendship even more! Alyssa is also an amazing photographer and graphic designer, so I know I can always ask her for help when I have photography questions. Even though our blog topics are different, we’re able to come together from opposite sides of the country to support each other in content creation!
I met the wonderful Steph through a Twitter group chat, which then led to WhatsApp group chat with 14 other girls. I loved being part of the group chat but life got a bit in the way. Steph is a wonderful blogger and a lovely friend that I have made through the blogging community. Thank you Steph for being so FAB!
We met through blogging through following each other on Twitter, and then following each others blogs and our friendship blossomed from that. We started talking on Twitter about all things blogging and got to know each other that way, as we are both blind, we could relate to each other in many ways both disability related and non-disability related, I do think that our visual impairments made our friendship stronger.
We spoke all most every day and got to know each other really well, we then met up a year or so later and have had some amazing memories since then.
We live a long distance but it makes our friendship stronger. We are best friends and I couldn’t imagine my life without her.
She’s not just my blogging friend now, she’s my best friend.
I first started posting recipes and somewhat blogging on instagram as starting my own blog page seemed very daunting at that time. I met Sarah through instagram where I initially started posting recipes and food pictures and found hers to be amazing. She had this amazing blog and I was ABSOLUTELY inspired by her. While I was getting the hang of posting regularly and taking pictures while working on my website backhand, I tried to contact a lot of bloggers I was seeing on Instagram. Funnily enough they don’t really wanna talk to or help. Sarah was the only one who initially responded to me, infact guided me and helped me out with whatever she had learned along the way. I don’t have any blogging friends in my real life friends circle, if it weren’t for her I would still be just wondering whether I should start my own website or not. I am glad I started it.
What’s your favourite part of being in the blogging community?
