I recently got the opportunity to attend the launch event for Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Love perfume, which was a PR event unlike any other I’ve attended!
The launch took place in the absolutely beautiful Somerset House, situated on The Strand in central London. Its Neoclassical architecture began its construction in 1547, and later became home to Queen Elizabeth I, Anne of Denmark, the Parliamentary Army and (finally) The Royal Academy of Arts. Since then it’s been the venue and home to a range of iconic events and businesses, including London Fashion Week!
Upon arriving at the event, I was handed some Daisy Love samples and four Daisy Love tokens – yeah, I was as confused as you are right now! Turns out, the event was basically a Launch event in the form of a mini fun fair, and boy was I excited.
Now, Marc Jacobs knows how to make a corridor look good. I never thought I’d type that sentence and I assume you never thought you’d read it. I’ve got photographic evidence, too.
The corridor led to the Daisy Love Fun Fair, complete with two separate Instagram rooms. I know – this brand’s PR are definitely down with the kids. Of course, I had to fulfil their purpose by taking plenty of photos for my newly launched Instagram, which uses the same handle as my Twitter.
The Fun Fair was made up of a range of Daisy Love-orientated activities, from hoop throwing over perfume bottles to a claw machine filled With Marc Jacobs products (I still stand strongly by my belief that claw machines are constructed without any possibility of success for its user). Each game offered us the chance to win various Marc Jacobs goodies, from own-brand sweets to bottles of the Daisy Love perfume itself!
There were also extra goodies onsite – a made-to-order tea-cocktail bar and a Marc Jacobs ice cream stand, which could be found on the daisy-adorned balcony, overlooking Somerset House’s mini-fountain-filled courtyard.
After making my way around the event (complete with a scam from the claw machine – I’m still salty about that), I was successful in winning a Marc Jacobs tote bag filled with minis to try out!
Thank you to Marc Jacobs for organising such an unexpectedly competitive and hilariously fun PR event!
After the Marc Jacobs Daisy Love launch I made my way over to another event, which was coincidentally in another wing (I know, how often do you get to say that?!) of the same venue – check out my blog soon to find out what the next event was!
