Seeing more and more creative and entrepreneurial women build businesses, reach goals and achieve their dreams is, in my opinion, one of the most wonderful things about social media.
Thanks to the world of blogging, twitter and instagram we are able to both support and congratulate likeminded women as they work their butt off, often in complex and multidisciplinary jobs that they’ve created themselves. Going against the grain and making a difference is not only fantastic for those building their careers, but also in inspiring young girls around the world who deserve to know that they can do anything they set their mind to.
I have been absolutely loving listening to podcasts from likeminded creatives for tips and advice. Here are my favourites!
In Good Company | Otegha Uwagba
Otegha Uwagba, author of Sunday Times Bestseller Little Black Book (review on its way!) and founder of female collective Women Who has created a podcast which, like her book, is applicable to working women of any age, no matter their experience. Whether you’re looking to start up a brand or you’ve been working for twenty years, you’ll take away something new from every episode of In Good Company.
One Girl Band | Lola Hoad
Lola Hoad is primarily a creative business coach for female entrepreneurs, alongside running a workspace to ‘connect, support and empower’ female creatives in Brighton known as One Girl Band. In her podcast (which ranges from 10 mins to 1 hour in length so you can always find one that suits your commute!) she either discusses matters that align with her biweekly newsletter (I would definitely recommend signing up) or interviews women who work for themselves, by themselves. One Girl Band
Ctrl Alt Delete | Emma Gannon
Emma Gannon, author of Ctrl Alt Delete and The Multihyphen Method (review on its way!) interviews women from a range of industries on everything from self confidence and social media to working in the creative industries and building your own business from scratch. Ctrl Alt Delet is perfect for when you need a bit of a business-minded boost (and, if necessary, a kick up the arse).
She Did What | Vix Meldrew
I absolutely love the concept of this podcast, which gains its name from the segment in which each guest discusses a women who has done something that they admire. Vix is a
writer, blogger and comedian (and podcast host!) whose wonderfully honest words and quick humour shines through in everything she creates. Vix hosted the SkinnyDip London x Mental Health Awareness Week Event which I attended; I can confirm, she is just as lovely and hilarious in person.
Oh, and by the way – if you’re a fan Love Island, you’ll definitely get on with Vix!
