Glossier | My Thoughts

Glossier | My Thoughts

I’ve spent the past few months listening to promo for Glossier left, right and centre. Whether it’s thoughts on their new mascara or an argument about how to pronounce the brand’s name, everyone (in the online beauty world) is talking about Glossier. And boy, am I a sucker for a hyped up brand or product.

Two of the content creators whose opinions I always trust – Anna and Lucy – each uploaded videos with their thoughts on Glossier and their products.  As someone who prefers makeup that isn’t too time consuming, Glossier’s no-fuss ethos really excites me. Known for their products’ natural finish and glow, everything they promise is exactly what I like – so did they deliver?

Long story short: I placed my first Glossier order and I genuinely cannot see myself buying some of these products from another brand ever again.

So what did I purchase?

I opted for the top three most talked about products that I could find – cloud paint blush, stretch concealer and lash slick mascara.

cloud paint blush

pros
– that’s some CUTE packaging
– quick to apply
– easy to blend
– only requires a tiny amount
– lasts throughout the day (even on oily skin when the whether is 20oC+)
– natural finish (as promised)
– doubles as a lipstain!

cons
– lack of colours that suit a range of skin tones

out of 10
10 – as someone with extremely fair skin, I’ve finally found the blush for me!

stretch concealer

pros
– quick to apply
– buildable coverage
– doesn’t crease under the eyes
– dewy finish
– moisturising
– easy to blend

cons
– not 100% full coverage if that’s what you’re looking for
– not particularly varied in terms of colour options
– requires a generous amount of powder to set in place

out of 10
8 – this blush combines correction, concealing and brightening in one little pot!

lash slick mascara

pros
– builds lash length
– creates natural looking lashes

cons
– offers little volume enhancement
– cheap packaging and appearance considering its price

out of 10
8 – I love the effortless and natural finish that the lash slick mascara gives, but if you’re looking for volume this isn’t the mascara for you!

If you’re looking for a brand that’s perfect for day-to-day use, Glossier is for you. The Glossier ethos is Inspired by real life, and I always appreciate when makeup brands don’t encourage us to restructure and alter our natural features – instead they promote enhancing who you are with just enough product to give you the boost you might need.

What do you think of Glossier? Have you purchased any of their products? Do you have any in mind to pick up soon?

Ugh, if a concealer needs lots of powder to be set, I’m out. I’m 36, I can’t pack on powder like it’s 1999 😀

Hey Kate! Haha, I’m afraid Glossier isn’t for you then- it’s very, very creamy and shiny! What’s your go-to concealer? X
