Self Care Coins

Self Care Coins

I think it’s important to acknowledge that sometimes self care doesn’t work. And that’s okay. Sometimes the mind doesn’t want to cooperate. This isn’t your fault and you’ve done nothing wrong.

If you find yourself feeling down and knocked back – be it mental health, self confidence or the people around you – self care coins are a good go to.

I began doing self care coins when I realised that, whenever I feel particularly low, sometimes a takeaway or my favourite cookies can actually help, even if only a little.

How self care coins work:

– whenever you find spare change in your pocket, put it in your self care coins jar

– when payday comes around, put £5 or £10 (or more!) in your jar

– when the student loan drops and you’ve paid your bills and done your weekly shop, put £5 or £10 (or more!) in your jar

This means that the next time you feel low, you don’t need to worry about spending money out of your account (which often adds even more stress to the situation), you can go to your self care coins jar and treat yourself.

As someone who literally just experienced a moment like the one I described, I can confirm self care coins are the way forward. I do not regret this Domino’s.

‘Today do something for you.’

I have a beautiful jar that I fill up during the year with little notes of happy moments. On Hogmanay I empty the jar and read them all. A lovely time spent with my daughter laughing and reminiscing over the past year.

Feel free to leave a comment - I'd love to hear your thoughts!
